AES Awarded „Klimaschutzbetrieb CO₂ minus 20“ (Climate Protection Company CO₂ minus 20) Seal at ECOMAT Bremen

Recognized for Outstanding CO₂ Reduction and Sustainable Innovation in Aviation

AES Aircraft Elektro/Elektronik System GmbH recently reached an important milestone: at the annual reception of the „Partnerschaft Umwelt Unternehmen“ (Environmental Partnership of Companies) in Bremen’s ECOMAT research and technology center, we were honored with the sustainability seal „Klimaschutzbetrieb CO₂ minus 20“ (Climate Protection Company CO₂ minus 20). This award is given to companies in Bremen that have reduced their CO₂ emissions by at least 20 percent over the past five years.

A Network for Sustainable Progress

The „Partnerschaft Umwelt Unternehmen“ unites 250 forward-thinking companies committed to environmental and climate protection. This year’s reception brought together around 100 guests from business, science, and politics to exchange ideas on topics such as climate-neutral aviation, 3D printing, and the Bremen Biodiversity Index. The event provided a platform for fresh impulses, best-practice examples, and networking opportunities focused on sustainable business practices.

CO₂ Reduction through Solar Power

AES was the sole company this year to receive the „Klimaschutzbetrieb CO₂ minus 20“ seal. Our decisive step was investing in a photovoltaic system. By generating our own solar power, we reduced our CO₂ emissions by more than 20 percent and significantly lowered our energy costs. As an innovative player in the aviation industry, sustainable business is at the heart of what we do. “We strive to enable greener aviation and to set an example for our industry,” emphasizes Ann-Kristin Ciminski, Environmental Manager at AES.

ECOMAT: Hub for Sustainable Aerospace Research

The ECOMAT (Center for Eco-efficient Materials & Technologies) in Bremen is a beacon for the sustainable transformation of the aerospace industry. Here, leading companies and scientific institutes collaborate on key technologies such as hydrogen, lightweight construction, 3D printing, and digitalization, all with the goal of enabling climate-neutral flight and strengthening Bremen’s role as a technology leader.

Looking Ahead: Responsibility and Innovation

Receiving the „Klimaschutzbetrieb CO₂ minus 20“ seal is both a validation and an incentive for us. It demonstrates that targeted investments in renewable energy and sustainable processes are both ecologically and economically sound. We remain committed to further improving our environmental performance and driving innovation for aviation and beyond.

Thank you to the Partnerschaft Umwelt Unternehmen and all network partners for the inspiring collaboration and valuable exchange!
